The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is comprised of EL parents, guardians, and interested community members to represent the needs of English Learners. Additionally, the committee will review school plans and make recommendations to the Principal and School Site Council related to their specific needs. At Carlmont High School, the ELAC group meets six times a year to discuss all things Carlmont; ranging from school programs, policies, guidelines, the importance of attendance, academic and graduation requirements, and available resources for students and families. The California Education Code requires an ELAC Committee to be formed at schools with over twenty (20) identified English Learners.
Parent/Guardian Representation
The parents/guardians are elected by other parents every two years to be part of the ELAC and DELAC (District ELAC) committees. The DELAC Representative attends a monthly meeting at the district office to give and bring information.
